Proverbs 11

Proverbs 11:9 says, " “An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.”  This means we can't judge others when we ourselves aren't perfect either. We have no room to point fingers at others. When we treat others with respect they deserve, the outcome will be justified. We need to spend more time doing the right thing instead of focusing on what others are doing wrong. This stuck out to me because it is easy in high school to judge everyone else constantly without even realizing you are doing it.
One action I am going to take is every time I hear people gossiping to just walk away. This is hard because as humans we are very curious. It will be a good push for me though, and I think people will have more respect in the end. Another thing I am going to try to do is try to be more understanding of others. It is hard not to judge, but maybe something deeper is hidden in someone's life. If I try to understand others stories, I think I will get more respect overall all. I think I'll be a better person and friend.

Proverbs 10

Proverbs 10:15 says, "The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty."  A rich man will have cushion when it comes to money. The same thing goes for people's personality. People that develop healthy morals have a strong base of good character.  People that make bad choices time after time will end up like the person in poverty. If you make wise choices, you will develop a good foundation for your character.
It stuck out to me because I think sometimes it's hard to do what is morally right instead of taking the easier way out. If we keep taking the easy way out, we won't truly be happy. We will also develop bad character.
I am going to try to make better choices. It's hard to stand up to my peers if they do something wrong. I will try to stop them from making bad choices if I can. This isn't easy, but it is the right thing to do. I will also try to take time and reflect on my on decisions. Reflecting and analyzing my choices will help me build better morals. This will lead to better decisions overall.

Proverbs 9

Proverbs 9:5 says, “Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.” This means we need to follow in the ways of Jesus. I think sometimes it is hard for us to stand up and be Christian. We are afraid of what people will think of us. It isn’t easy to do the right thing all the time, but it is definitely just. This verse stuck out to me because it is something that is very hard to face as a teenager. For the first time in our lives, we have to state what we believe, not what our parents have told us to believe. It is much easier said than done.
We can always better ourselves to be more like Christ. I think going to church in college will be harder without being forced to by my parents. I will try to attend church weekly in college. Another thing I will try to improve on is doing more service in college. I think service really builds character. I would like to join clubs that benefit others in need. There is no better way to be like Jesus then to serve others.

Woman Is First Person to Cross Antarctica Solo on Skis

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/2012/01/brit-is-first-woman-to-cross-antarctica-solo-on-skis/

Felicity Aston was the first human to travel across Antartica by herself. This story is one of amazement and courage. She finished her trip in 59 days. Her family could still read her tweets and track her down with technology. This story is so cool! It is very interesting to think someone could survive out in those freezing temperatures by themself for days. This feature story is one of great accomplishment.

Baby Born Deformed After Misdiagnosed Ectopic Pregnancy

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/w_ParentingResource/baby-born-deformed-misdiagnosed-ectopic-pregnancy/story?id=15421441

I choose this feature story because it really caught my eye. It is a timeless story; It can happen to a woman at any time. Rachel Schoger had an ectopic pregnancy. The sad part was the Dr. diagnosed it wrongly and gave her the wrong dosage of medicine. Her daughter was born with many complications even lacking female parts because of this mistake.  Today, after many surgeries, her daughter's life is basically normal. This story is very interesting. It is amazing that her daughtered lived, and it makes it aware to other women to get a second approval before taking this deadly medication. It is also a story of hope and survival.

Proverbs 8

My verse is from Proverbs 8:8 which states, “All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.” This means everything we say and do needs to be righteous. Our words and actions can’t be fake or contradict good morals. We have to do what is right and just, instead of what we want to do. It may not be easy at all times, but we need to follow God’s will. Sometimes it’s hard to stand up to others when they are doing the wrong thing. I will try to do the right thing even when it is hard. I will also pray to God more often to ask for strength to be righteous.
